A platform for providing insights to establish industry development strategies and set business directions in the SW field

The Software Policy Research Institute (SPRi, Director General Kim Hyeong-cheol) held the '2024 SPRi Spring Conference' on Friday, April 26th at the Grace Hall of EL Tower in Yangjae.

More than 300 software industry officials attended the conference, which was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of SPRi, a software field expert think tank, and to provide insights for setting industry development strategies and business directions in the software field.

The event began with opening remarks by SPRi Director General Kim Hyeong-cheol, congratulatory speeches by Hwang Gyu-cheol, Director General of the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Kim Myeong-jun, the second director general of SPRi, and continued with four lectures and one talk show.

Professor Kim Myeong-sik from Imperial College London, who was in charge of the first lecture, explained how quantum software development and error correction algorithms are transforming the current computing paradigm, under the topic 'Quantum Algorithms That Dream – Simple Understanding and Applications'.

Professor Jin-Hyeong Lee from Stanford University, who was in charge of the second lecture, explained the software solution 'Digital Twin', which solves incurable brain diseases under the topic 'AI and the Future of Brain Health', and provided a glimpse into the future of brain health, where new treatments can be designed through this solution.

In the third lecture, presented by Lee Geon-bok, Lead at Microsoft Korea, the topic of 'Changing SW Development and Approach in the AI Era' covered changes in development methods suited to the era of generative AI, along with development methods that effectively utilize LLM and AI.

In the fourth lecture, Ha Jeong-woo, Center Director at Naver Cloud, presented the topic 'Changes and Our Response Strategies Brought by Large-scale Generative AI', discussing recent technological trends in the large-scale generative AI field and the changes it is bringing about in various industries.

In the last session, the talk show, YouTuber Jocoding served as the moderator and discussed the impact of software development on society, economics, and individual lives, and how we can adapt to the rapidly changing digital age and create new opportunities through innovation, under the topic 'Wisdom for the Next 10 Years: Asking about Insights and the Future', along with journalist Hong Jae-ui, Professor Jin-Hyeong Lee, Lead Lee Geon-bok, and Center Director Ha Jeong-woo.

In his opening remarks, Director General Kim Hyeong-cheol said, “Let’s gather our wisdom to create a better software ecosystem and lead the development of digital society”, and added, “I look forward to the next 10 years of software development through our collaboration and innovation.”

Director General Hwang Gyu-cheol, who delivered the congratulatory speech, said, “AI and digital technology are now being applied to essential services for citizens, improving their quality of life and solving structural problems in our society, becoming a decisive means,” and added, “We will continuously support the growth and development of the institute to respond to these demands of the times.”
