Hello, donut lovers looking for donut shops! In the last post, we introduced Noti'd. Today, we will introduce Randy's Donuts!

Randy's Donuts

Randy's Donuts is a donut chain that started in California, USA in 1952 and boasts a history of over 70 years. It has maintained its popularity even after entering the Korean market. The distinctive exterior of the store, shaped like a giant donut, is a symbol of the company. The donuts are made with fresh ingredients and careful preparation, and their chewy texture and rich flavor captivate many. Especially, Randy's Donuts mini donuts are loved for their variety of flavors and colors.

In Korea, there are a total of six stores: Jeju Aewol store opened on September 12, 2019, Seoul Yeonnam store (2nd store), Daegu Dongseongro store (3rd store), Seoul Garosugil store (4th store), Seoul Anguk store (5th store), and Busan Gwanganri store (6th store). It was extremely popular at the time of its first opening and there were a lot of people in line. There was a controversy over the price of Randy's Donuts, as it was considered significantly more expensive than in the United States. I had Randy's Donuts for the first time last year, but I didn't know they had been operating since 1919.

They make donuts by hand every day and sell them on the same day. Donuts not sold on the day are discarded. This is the case for many bakeries, including all donut shops.

Let me introduce you to the menu. They only sell donuts and they are divided into Classic, Deluxe, Fancy and Premium.

Classic includes Glazed Donut, Chocolate Donut, Sugar Donut, Glazed Old Fashioned, Chocolate Old Fashioned, Devil's Cake, Glazed Donut, and the price is between 2,500 won and 2,900 won.

Deluxe includes Coconut Donut, Coffee Crumb Donut, Cinnamon Roll, Glazed Crondi, Sugar Crondi, Tiger Tail, and the price is 3,200 won.

Fancy includes Roast Coconut Donut, Chocolate Coconut Donut, Caramel Coconut Donut, Butter Cream Donuts Smores Donuts Chocolate Crondi, Bear Claw, Consomme Crunch Twist and the price is 3,500 won.

Premium donuts are even more diverse: Aewol Green Tea Donut, Cream Candy Donut, Coco Raspberry Donut, (Strawberry, Blueberry, Lemon) Filling Donut, Choco Crunch Strawberry Donut, Texas Glazed Donut, Apple Fritter, Spring Onion Donut, Mint Chocolate Donut, Ganache Donut, Nutella Donut, (Maple Cream, Chocolate Choco, Bacon Maple) Long John, Almond Brittle Donut are sold for 3,800-4,000 won.

Overall, the sweetness is very strong, so it is not recommended for people who don't like sweets. Noti'd is also sweet, but I think it's twice as sweet as Noti'd. In fact, people who like donuts like rich and sweet flavors, so I think if you like donuts, you'll also like Randy's!

The donuts sold here look similar to the famous donut shop Krispy Kreme, and they say they taste similar. I actually tried it and it was similar, but personally I liked Krispy Kreme better ^^. They also use Nutella in their chocolate donuts. If you like Nutella, I think chocolate donuts are a good choice.

I haven't tried all the donuts at Randy's, but the ones I've tried that were delicious were the Lemon Filling Donut and the Coconut Donut. Since Randy's donuts are very sweet, I think the tangy lemon balances it out and I would recommend it. The coconut was also not very sweet, and I liked the subtle coconut flavor and the coconut that was chewy!

Popular donuts include Nutella Donut, Ganache Donut, Spring Onion Donut, Butter Cream Donut, Pomelo Donut and Glazed Donut.
